Here’s a video I put together of some snapshots from our 2009 season. It’s over now (whew, good thing, it’s getting hot out there), but it seems to have gone by much too quickly. Lots of good things happened on the team. All the kids and parents were great. Thanks everyone for a great season!!

Almost 13

52 Paintings is my challenge to create a painting per week for 2009. I’m hoping to learn some new skills and techniques along the way. My tools of choice are Painter X, Photoshop CS3 and my Wacom tablet (couldn’t do it without it!).

This is a painting that I did from my photograph of my son, who will be 13 on his next birthday. Oh what an exciting time we have coming with a teenager in the house!!

This is a a re-do of my Week 9 painting…I’m not sure if I’m completely finished with this or not. With each week, I’m actually learning a little more about the process and starting to feel a little more comfortable with the tools and brushes that I’m using.

52 Paintings Week 11 Easter Bunny Hug

I was at the Streets of Indian Lake on Saturday taking photos of the Easter bunny and any child who could steel up the courage to go sit with him. This little girl was not one of those who was brave enough to sit on his lap. When it was time to cut the cake which was made to celebrate the Streets birthday (it’s now a year old), she just couldn’t stay away from him. It was so sweet to see her give this hug and I was lucky to have my camera with me. I quickly put my slice of cake down and got this picture. I thought it would be a great topic for this week’s painting. Please let me know if you like it, your comments are always welcomed and appreciated.

FYI: Photos with the Easter Bunny will be taken again on APRIL 4th, from 11 to 2-ish at the Streets of Indian Lake, so please let everyone know, especially those with little ones. Pictures are available on-site and are only $5 each. A portion of this fee will benefit The Optimist Club of Hendersonville.

This is my entry for week 9 of my 52 Paintings project, my personal challenge to create a painting per week for 2009.

This has been the hardest one to paint yet. It was a challenge to get it to be really painterly. Us photographers are always looking for the sharpest and cleanest looking photographs, but with painting, the detail is implied. The challenge for me was to not bring back too much detail in the painting.

This was a painted from a photograph taken on a beautiful evening back in the fall. My subjects were relaxing on this bench overlooking the lake.
