Improv Photo Frequently Asked Questions
Thanks for your interest in Improv Photo. Here are some commonly asked questions that may help you with your upcoming session. If you have any further questions, please call or email.
How do I reserve my session?
Your session is reserved when payment of the session fee is received by Improv Photo. I would appreciate at least 24 hour notice if you wish to cancel or postpone your session. This will allow me to reschedule your time with other clients. If you cancel your session without notice, I will have to charge you for the session. Normally this hasn’t been a problem, I completely understand when last minute emergencies or scheduling conflicts come up.
Does the session fee apply to print purchases?
The session fee is used to pay for the photographer’s time and talent and does not apply toward print/product purchases.
Do you do sessions on location?
Yes, in fact I like to do sessions in locations that have special meaning to my clients, their homes, the beach, a church or park etc. A special fee for travel beyond a 75 mile return trip will be applied as this takes me out of the studio for longer than a standard session.
What clothing should we wear?
As with any session, it’s important that the group “harmonize” with their clothing selections. The best way to do this is to lay out all of your clothing selections on a big bed and look for items that stand out. Some general rules for clothing selection are: no lines or stripes, no patterns. Solid colors work best. 95% of women photograph better with sleeves on.
When will I get to see my images and how?
We will schedule a viewing for your images within 1 week of the creative session where you will place your order. You are encouraged to bring all parties who may be interested in purchasing prints to your ordering session.
Can I have a CD of my proofs?
You may purchase a CD of your proofs if you print purchases meet a minimum purchase amount. This amount is determined by the type of session.
I would like out of town relatives and friends to see the proofs, how can we do this?
After your order, your proofs can be put in an online gallery for purchase by relatives and friends who may not be able to make it into the studio for a viewing. These will be available for a limited time and ONLY after a minimum purchase amount has been reached.
When is payment due for my prints?
Payment for prints is payable before prints are ordered. Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed.
When will I receive my print order?
You will receive your prints usually 2 to 4 weeks after they are ordered. You may pick them up at our studio, or they will be delivered to you.
Beach Safari
Do you do beach photos?
You bet. In 2007 I made several photo safaris to the beaches of Destin, Panama City, Daytona and Jekyll Island, GA. Click here (coming soon) for a sample slide show of some of the images that I’ve created. We also will be available on select days over Christmas 2008. If you are going to Orlando and are planning a day or two at the beach, why not have Improv Photo meet you at your favorite beach location? Call or email for details.
What is your fee for beach safari photo sessions?
The creative fee for Beach Safari sessions is $150. This fee helps to cover my travel and expenses and does not apply towards your print purchases.
Can two families share the session and the creative fee?
No, this is impractical and will result in both families possibly getting less than expected results from the session. With a beach session, there is a limited window of time to operate in. Full attention to the details of the photograph is easier to provide to a single family at a time. If scheduling is a problem and you would like to also combine a large group photograph of multiple families, this can be arranged. Each family will be responsible for the creative fee.
What times work out the best for beach photos?
The best time for beach photos is within 90 minutes of sunrise or sunset. Most people like to use the evenings for doing their session….I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want to get up super early for a morning session when they’re on vacation.![]()

How long will a beach session last?
Your session will likely last about 90 minutes. Please allow time for travel from your hotel and for any walking that may be required. Some beach sessions require a considerable walk, so please take this into account when scheduling time for your session. This will be discussed beforehand with your photographer.
Where will we do our beach session?
There are a number of great locations to photograph your family. We can find an area on your favorite beach, or even photograph in front of your resort. On the more popular beaches, crowds will be a consideration, so you may consider hiking out to a harder to reach place. This makes for some awesome opportunities for portraits.
